This winter has been miserable as most of our clients and their pets would probably agree. As Manager of Tracy’s Pet Services, I undertake dog walking services regularly myself, and also attend to the care of dogs with visits and pet sitting.
Like my other pet carers, we have been out in the elements in cold, wintry, and occasionally wet days. This makes it difficult to time the walks but, we do our best to not get caught in the rain with our doggies in inclement weather.
However, on occasions a shower of rain will come out of nowhere and we and our trusty dogs may get wet. If it looks threatening, we do contact the clients that morning to see if they want to change the walking day if it is a regular dog walking.
One thing we do if we do happen to get caught in the rain is dry them off with a towel when we get back. If they are wearing a jacket, we take it off and replace (if possible) with a dry one.
We also always change their drinking water, whatever the season, after each walk. There’s nothing like some fresh, cold water after a fun walk!
Whatever the weather, dogs love going for a walk, that’s for sure!
